LIVE: Trains between Manchester and London cancelled after person hit by train

Trains running between Manchester and London have been cancelled this afternoon after a person was hit by a train.

All lines are currently blocked between Watford Junction and London Euston due to the incident. Emergency services are reported to be at the scene in the Bushy area.

Avanti West Coast has warned that trains running to and from the two stations are likely to be cancelled or delayed by up to an hour.

Passengers travelling between Manchester Piccadilly and London Euston are being diverted via Leeds or Sheffield until further notice.

In a statement on their website, Avanti West Coast said: "Due to a person being hit by a train between Watford Junction and London Euston all lines are blocked.

"Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes. Disruption is expected until 18:00 21/06."

"Transpennine Trains are conveying passengers between Leeds and Manchester Piccadilly in both directions until further notice. Transpennine Trains are conveying passengers between Sheffield and Manchester Piccadilly in both directions until further notice.
