LIVE traffic updates as M6 closed due to embankment fire

Part of the M6 is closed this evening due to a fire on the embankment.

The southbound motorway near to the junction with the M56 is shut after the verge caught fire when a lorry tyre blew out. Pictures and video from the scene show a wall of flames next to the hard shoulder as a plume of smoke billows into the sky.

Drivers are being warned of 30 minute delays in the area.
