LIVE: Thousands of pro-Palestine protesters gather in Manchester city centre following march amid Israel-Hamas war - latest updates

A protest in support of Palestinians is taking place in Manchester city centre amid the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza. War broke out last weekend following attacks on Israel carried out by Hamas.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health has today (October 14) said 2,215 civilians have been killed in Gaza during the conflict.

Meanwhile, Israel said on Thursday that 1,300 people had been killed by Hamas attacks. An evacuation is taking place today, with around a million people in northern Gaza being urged to flee to the south of the strip.

In south Manchester, thousands of people gathered next to the Costume Museum at Platt Fields Park, Rusholme, for a demonstration in support of those in Gaza. They then marched into the city centre, congregating at Central Library.

It follows another pro-Palestine event held in Manchester city centre last weekend. Meanwhile, a vigil for those killed in Israel was held in St Peter's Square on Wednesday evening.
