LIVE: Roads taped off as 'armed police' scrambled to shopping precinct - latest updates
Police have taped off roads and a town precinct following an incident in Woodley, Stockport. Officers can be seen guarding the cordon along with armed police, according to eyewitnesses in the area.
Several Greater Manchester Police cars are parked up beside the taped off area this afternoon (Monday, October 10). The cordon extends across the grass next to Woodley Civic Hall on Mill Lane.
A footpath bridge and passage to the back of the precinct's Iceland store and Oak Court flats has also now been cordoned off by officers.
Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for comment. The exact nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed.
