LIVE: Road in Mottram shut off and 240 homes without power after fire in substation

Over 240 homes and businesses in Hyde are without electricity after an incident at a substation in Mottram caused a power cut in the area.

Stalybridge Road has been closed due to the incident and there is heavy traffic in the area due to traffic light failure. Engineers are currently on the scene and power is expected to be restored at around 16.59, Electricity North West have said..

Electricity NorthWest tweeted: "Update #SK14 #Hyde. Our engineers are on site and are dealing with an incident at the substation.

Traffic service MancTraffic posted on Twitter: "A fire involving a substation in Mottram has CLOSED off Stalybridge Rd, which is the diversion for the closure of the A6018 Back Moor s/b. There's a power cut too and sets of traffic lights are out in the Mottram area, affecting the A57 Hyde Rd & Mottram Moor. Heavy congestion."
