LIVE: Police van 'damaged' following reports of crash under Mancunian Way

A police van and another vehicle have crashed under the Mancunian Way this evening, according to reports.

Eye witnesses have reported seeing traffic building and debris on the A5105 approaching the roundabout with Princess Road.

A police van which had been damaged was pictured at the scene.

It is reported that the police van and another vehicle were involved in the collision.

It is unclear at this stage whether anyone was injured.

Greater Manchester Police has been approached for a comment.

Andrew Stuart got to the scene just after the collision and said there were a number of police vehicles.

The A5103 was blocked heading west towards the Mancunian Way.

"You could see a crack on the front corner of the police van with debris on the road. The taxi looked like it was more damaged and potentially written off.

"There's torrential rain and it's a normal busy night for traffic in Manchester with lots of cars having to divert around the incident."

Google Maps shows a rough location of wherer the crash took place, on the approach to the roundabout on the A5103.

Traffic appears to be coping fairly well, according to the map's data.

Greater Manchester Police have been approached for more information on the crash.
