Liverpool can take advantage against Leeds after Man Utd expose "mess"

Liverpool can go within three points of Premier League leaders Manchester City with a victory against Leeds at Anfield on Wednesday evening.

There are no easy games in English football's most prestigious competition, although this is about as close as you can get to a gimme.

Liverpool have scored the most goals in the Premier League this season - 64 - and Marcelo Bielsa's side have conceded 50, with only Norwich shipping in more (53).

Add in the home factor and it's hard to imagine anything else but a convincing victory for Jurgen Klopp's men ahead of the EFL Cup final against Chelsea on Sunday.

Leeds' vulnerability at the back was painfully evident during their 4-2 defeat to Manchester United at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon.

Harry Maguire's opener for the visitors was their first league goal from a corner in 389 days, while Victor Lindelof strolled through Leeds' midfield to set up Bruno Fernandes' header.

"They [Leeds] played really well this second half, but they are a mess defensively," said Gary Neville on commentary. "They take too many chances, they leave too many spaces.

"He’s shouting and balling on the side of the pitch, Bielsa, but the pattern is there week in week out. This is not abnormal for them, conceding threes and fours."

Leeds haven't kept a Premier League clean sheet since their 1-0 win against Crystal Palace in November. How do they intend to keep Mohamed Salah at bay?

Some Leeds fans may be clinging on to the EFL Cup final - believing Klopp could rest players - yet he did that on Saturday in their 3-1 win against Norwich.

Fabinho, Andrew Robertson, Thiago Alcantara, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Harvey Elliott were all either rested or started the Anfield clash from the bench.
