LIVE: Police tape off main road after little girl, 3, is hit by van

Police have cordoned off a main road in Hindley this afternoon after a three-year-old girl was hit by a van. A cordon is in place on Market Street (A58) with a number of emergency services vehicles at the scene.

An air ambulance was reportedly scrambled to the scene shortly before 2pm with the main high street blocked off in both directions at the junction with Lowe Mill Lane.

She is not thought to have sustained injuries that are life-changing or life-threatening. The driver has since been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving in connection with the incident.
