LIVE: Police tape off large section of Piccadilly Gardens

Police have taped off a large section of Piccadilly Gardens this evening as they respond to an incident.

Officers have cordoned off the street and pavement outside Morrisons in the busy city centre hub. The nature of the incident is not clear currently.

An onlooker told the M.E.N. that a 'large area' of the gardens has been cordoned off by police as they continue to investigate. Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for comment.

An onlooker told the M.E.N. that blood is visible on the ground within the cordon.

An onlooker told the M.E.N. that there are two cordons in place, one near Five Guys and Boots, and another close to the bus stops outside Morrisons.
