LIVE: Police shut road as fire crews tackle major blaze - latest updates
A Tameside road has been closed as crews tackle a building fire. Firefighters have been working at the scene on Talbot Road, in Hyde, throughout the early hours of the morning (December 27).
It follows a fire which broke out late on Boxing Day. Emergency services were called out to the scene at around 10.30pm yesterday, with five fire engines sent out to the scene as the fire raged.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just after 10.30pm last night (Thursday, December 26), five fire engines from Hyde, Stalybridge, Ashton, Gorton and Hollins fire station were called to reports of a building fire involving a property on Talbot Road, Hyde. Crews arrived quickly at the scene.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel, jet, gas monitor, chimney roads, hearth kit and thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire and carry out safety checks. Firefighters have been in attendance for around eight hours and are still at the scene.”
It's understood that no one was taken to hospital following the fire. Talbot Road has been closed between Victoria Street and Rexcine Way. The road is now open, but firefighters remain in attendance.
