LIVE: Police scene in place and air ambulance called after man stabbed - updates

A large police scene is in place in Collyhurst this afternoon after a stabbing incident. Officers remain at the scene currently on Thornton Street North and Kelly Street, near to Rochdale Road.

An air ambulance landed nearby to the junction with Kelly Street earlier this afternoon. A man has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

A large cordon remains in place covering a grassed area, with paramedics also at the scene. Emergency services were first called out shortly after 2pm.

Greater Manchester Police have been approached for a statement.

Forensics scoured a scene for evidence after a man was seriously injured in a 'stabbing' in Collyhurst on Monday afternoon (October 28). A huge police scene was put in place near Thornton Street North following the knife attack.

Emergency services, including police, paramedics and an air ambulance, were scrambled to the scene at around 2.10pm. The area was taped off near to the junction with Kelly Street and Lashbrook Close.

The victim, a man, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries from the scene. Police were called to reports of a 'serious assault', which the Manchester Evening News has learned was a stabbing.

Local councillor Pat Karney has demanded an 'urgent briefing' from police on today's knife attack.
