LIVE: Police close off street near Piccadilly Gardens following serious incident - latest updates

Officers have sealed off a busy city centre street following an incident near Piccadilly Gardens.

Oldham Street is closed between Piccadilly Gardens and Back Piccadilly this morning (July 3) due to a police incident.

Footage from the scene shows officers sealed off an area in the early hours of the morning.

It's believed officers responded to a serious incident after midnight.

Multiple Greater Manchester Police vehicles were seen in attendance with a cordon in place.

Details of the exact nature of the incident are yet to be confirmed.

A post on the Inrix traffic monitoring service said: "Oldham Street One Way Street closed due to police incident from Back Piccadilly to Piccadilly Gardens."
