LIVE: Murder probe launched after man in his 50s dies and woman is arrested - latest updates

A police scene is in place on a street in Rochdale this morning after a murder probe was launched.

Officers are stationed on Lower Falinge, near Toad Lane, with a screen erected on a balcony at a block of flats on the estate. Eyewitnesses said officers first arrived on the scene late on Monday evening.

Officers arriving at the scene found a man in his 50s unresponsive on the floor, GMP said. CPR was performed at the scene but despite the best efforts of the officers and emergency medical responders, the man died.

The investigation has so far resulted in the arrest a woman, aged 48, this morning on suspicion of murder.

Today, forensic officers have been spotted scouring the area. Investigations have focused on the flat with the forensic screen outside.

A 48-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

She has been taken into custody to be questioned by detectives.

Detective Superintendent, Phil Key said:

“Detectives are working to determine the circumstances that led to this man’s tragic death. From our enquiries so far, we believe this to have been a targeted attack and a dedicated team of officers are working to trace those responsible.

"We are still keen to speak to anyone else who was in the area at the time of this incident and may have seen or heard anything suspicious.
