LIVE: Murder investigation continues as flowers left for boy, 14, knifed in Harpurhey - a child has been arrested
A Manchester community is in shock after a 14-year-old boy was stabbed to death - before a child of the same age was arrested on suspicion of murder. Police confirmed overnight the boy had died following an incident at Tavistock Square, in Harpurhey, on Friday evening (September 15).
The teenager was rushed to hospital after being knifed. Paramedics worked on him at the scene. A murder investigation is now underway.

Officers arrested another 14-year-old boy in connection with the attack. He remains in custody for questioning this morning (Saturday).
Officers remain at the scene, with three forensic tents in place around Tavistock Square. Three police vehicles are currently in attendance, while a cordon remains in place.

A statement from GMP was released in the early hours. Detective Superintendent Phil Key said:
Firstly I would like to share my deepest condolences with the family at this unbelievably difficult time. Our Family Liaison Officers are currently working with them and we will continue to support the family throughout this extremely troubling period.
A Section 60 authority has been put in place which will run for 24 hours and finish at 8.26pm this evening, we have taken this course of action to keep the public who live and work within the vicinity of the incident safe.
