The McLaren Formula 1 team is ready to reveal their car for the 2022 F1 season, the MCL36. Having ending the 2021 season in fourth place behind Mercedes-AMG, Red Bull Racing, and Ferrari, the team will look to go one better and come into contention for season's glory.

McLaren had a rather strong 2021, finishing 1-2 at the Italian Grand Prix. Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris maintained position in that race's closing stages after championship rivals Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton took each other out during the event.

Regardless of how the win came, it was McLaren's first win since Brazil 2012 and their first 1-2 since 2010. It was a reward for their struggles over the last decade and overcoming the challenging tenure with Honda engines between 2015 and 2017. From 2018 to 2020, the team used Renault engines, but reverted to Mercedes-AMG power in 2021.

2022 prediction

Given McLaren's performance, especially since the 2019 season, the team has probably seen the most significant upward trajectory of all competing in the sport at the moment. It's boded well for F1 as a whole, and longtime fans of the sport could not have been happier seeing this legendary team making proverbial noise.
