LIVE: Manhunt underway for Oldham suspect after woman stabbed to death while pushing pram

A manhunt is underway for a man from Oldham after a woman was stabbed and killed in broad daylight while pushing a pram.

Habibur Masum, who is from the Oldham area, is wanted on suspicion of murder after the 27-year-old woman was attacked in the Westgate area of Bradford city centre yesterday afternoon (April 6). Police were called to Westgate at the junction with Drewton Road at 3.21pm to reports that a woman had been stabbed by a man who then fled the scene.

She was taken to hospital and sadly died of her injuries. The woman has yet to be formally identified but her family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Today (April 7) West Yorkshire Police are appealing for members of the public to report any sightings of Habibur Masum. Anyone who sees Masum is urged to call 999 immediately and not approach him as he may be armed.

A the manhunt got underway, West Yorkshire Police initially released this statement, with Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson of West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team saying:

This is a shocking incident that has happened in broad daylight in a busy area of Bradford and been witnessed by a number of people. A young woman has lost her life in the most awful circumstances, and we have extensive enquiries ongoing to locate and arrest the man responsible.
