LIVE: Manchester trains CANCELLED and delayed after issue on line - latest updates
Passengers are facing misery on a busy railway line into Manchester following a points failure.
Services are being cancelled and delayed this morning (April 1) due to a points failure in Chelford, east Cheshire.
The issue is affecting Northern, Avanti West Coast and Transport for Wales services.
According to the Inrix traffic monitoring system, there are cancellations to Northern services between Alderley Edge and Crewe, and Transport for Wales services between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly.
A spokesperson for National Rail said: "A points failure at Chelford means trains between Crewe and Wilmslow may be delayed by up to 30 minutes, cancelled or revised. Disruption is expected until 12:00."
Network Rail says engineers will be on the scene to resolve the issue 'shortly'.
Affected ticket holders are currently able to use their tickets on a number of alternative services.
