LIVE Manchester Airport queues updates as passengers hit with more lengthy delays after weeks of chaos

Passengers have this morning (Thursday) posted images of more long queues greeting them as they arrive at crisis-hit Manchester Airport.

Scenes of long queues, crowded check-in halls and abandoned baggage at Manchester Airport have led passengers to describe it as a 'complete nightmare' over the past couple of weeks. Warnings were issued that 'someone could get hurt among the chaos, as leaders urged the management to ‘get a grip or get out’.

The chaos saw boss Karen Smart step down earlier this week to 'pursue fresh opportunities' as the airport apologised for the long delays. And, on Wednesday, Mayor Andy Burnham warned the queues would go on for at least 'two months' a nd told passengers to arrive three hours early for their flight.

The airport has previously said: "As we continue to recover from the pandemic and passenger numbers grow, security queues may be longer than usual at times. If you're due to travel in the next few weeks, please arrive at the earliest time your airline allows. We apologise to our customers for the disruption".

Pictures taken this week inside the departure areas of all terminals have showed huge queues building up for security, as well as at the check-in desks. Passengers described the situation as an 'absolute shambles'.

Today, Manchester Evening News reporter Ramazani Mwamba will be heading to Manchester Airport to get a view of what is going on there. He will be looking at the queues for check-in and security, as well as talking to passengers.
