LIVE M60 updates: Huge queues with traffic stopped amid 'medical incident'

Long queues are building on a stretch of the M60 this afternoon amid a 'medical emergency'.

Two lanes are currently closed off on the clockwise side of the motorway from junction 14 for the East Lancs Road to junction 15 for the M61, according to traffic alert service Inrix. Lanes two and three, of four, are shut.

Congestion is currently back to junction 13 for Worsley. Heavy traffic is building up to the closure, with motorway cameras showing long queues.

In a post on X at around 1pm, National Highways said: "Traffic is being held on the #M60 clockwise between J13 near #Swinton and J15 following a medical incident. @gmpolice @NWAmbulance on scene. Delays of up to 45 minutes on approach, approx. 4 miles of congestion."
