There was heavy traffic on the M4 and other access roads around the Tredegar Park roundabout in Newport following an incident this morning. Google Maps showed long, queuing traffic in the area.
According to traffic monitoring service, Inrix, there was also queuing traffic on the A48 outbound, which joins the M4 in the Tredegar Park area. Travel time was said to be around 10 minutes in the area.
Google Maps also showed long queues on the A467 Forge Road. At around 9.50am however, it was confirmed that traffic had returned to normal on the A48 outbound and A467 Forge Road.
A witness described seeing a van plough across the road and hit a car. They said the van spun up onto the pavement forcing a pedestrian to dive out of the way. Four people in hoods with backpacks ran from the van with police in pursuit.
