LIVE: Large cordon and forensic tent in place near Manchester city centre - updates
A large cordon is in place in central Manchester. An area of Palmerston Street, between Ancoats, Beswick and the city centre, has been taped off.
A police forensics tent has been erected on a grass bank at the side of the road.
The River Medlock runs close to the scene which is near the site of the former River Inn pub.
The nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have been approached for comment.
