LIVE: Huge emergency services presence at Salford Quays after ceiling collapses into restaurant

Emergency services have been called to Salford Quays this afternoon after a ceiling collapsed into a restaurant.

Paramedics, police and fire crews are in attendance beside the Quayside shopping centre and have been seen lining The Quays, beside the Lowry Theatre.

A ceiling has collapsed into the Pizza Express restaurant below. It is unclear whether anybody has been injured in the incident.

Pictures from the scene show a number of ambulances and police vehicles in attendance. The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service are leading on the incident.

The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed no injuries were reported in the incident today.

The fire service is working with Salford Council to make the area safe currently.

The majority of emergency services vehicles have left the scene.

The Lowry has posted a statement to X, confirming tonight's performance will go ahead as scheduled.

It comes after emergency services were called to Salford Quays to reports of a ceiling collapse at around 3.45pm.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 3.45pm today, officers were called to reports of a ceiling collapsing at a business on Salford Quays.

"Officers are in attendance along with other emergency service colleagues as they carry out their work.”
