LIVE: Greater Manchester weather latest as region wakes up to snow with warnings issued on roads

People in some parts of Greater Manchester are waking up to snow this morning.

Temperatures plummeted overnight to as low as -1C in some parts of the region, just days after temp reached the 20C threshold and the region enjoyed wall-to-wall sunshine. Residents in parts of Tameside, Oldham and Manchester have reported waking up to the white stuff this morning.

According to the Met Office, there is more chance that snow could fall at around 7am as the mercury remains low. Transport bosses have warned of some disruption on the roads due to the cold weather.

In a tweet, TfGM said: "It's a cold start across GM and snow is falling, particularly over eastern areas. Take extra care on roads and pavements and allow extra travel time.

"Some bus services may also be delayed, check with the operator before travel. Plan ahead for an easier journey."

There is also heavy traffic on a section of the M62 between junction 23 for Huddersfield and junction 21 for Milnrow due to heavy snow on the road.
