LIVE Emergency services descend and road closed as 'suspicious device' found - updates

A cordon is in place on a busy Greater Manchester road after what is understood to be a suspicious device was discovered.

Police are in attendance on Manchester Road in Reddish, Stockport, this afternoon (April 11).

The Manchester Evening News understands the device is believed to be an historic item.

It's not currently known if the device is viable.

Manchester Road is currently closed between Lloyd Street and the Tiviot Way roundabout. Google data shows heavy traffic is building up on surrounding routes in Stockport.

Further details about the incident are yet to be confirmed.

Greater Manchester Police has been approached for further details.
