LIVE: Dramatic pictures show wall falling away after car smashes into house - latest updates

Emergency services have been working throughout the morning after a car crashed into a house near Bolton. Officers were called out to Highfield Road, in Farnworth, at around 10.50pm last night (April 10).

Greater Manchester Police says the driver, a 20-year-old man, has been rushed to hospital. He has suffered serious injuries in the collision.

No one else has been hurt in the incident, GMP says. Road closures remain in place on Highfield Road and in the surrounding area this morning (Thursday).

A spokesperson for GMP added: "Road closures are in place on and around Highfield Road and a scene will remain on while we work with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS)to make the area safe and investigate how this happened." GMFRS has been approached for comment.

"A car has smashed into the front of a house in Bolton.

"Highfield Road in Farnworth was closed at the junction with Lucas Road late yesterday evening after the smash.

"The house could be seen to have serious structural damage."
