LIVE: Disruption across UK rail network due to 'communications fault' as trains delayed and cancelled
Commuters are being warned to expect disruption on services across the country following a nationwide communications fault. National Rail says there is a problem with a system used by train drivers and signallers this morning (December 6).
Several services across the country are facing delays as a result. Manchester Piccadilly's arrivals board shows a number of services are currently facing delays.
The issue is affecting passengers ahead of the morning rush hour. It's not yet known how long the issue will last.

A National Rail spokesperson said: "There is a nationwide fault with the communication system used between train drivers and signallers. As a result, services across the National Rail network may be subject to disruption this morning.
"Trains across the network are having to start their journeys later because of this fault and some may also be subject to cancellations or alterations. Please check before you travel, allow extra time for your journey and monitor live departure boards."

Some services are being cancelled due to the communications issue this morning.
The Northern service from Barrow-in-Furness which was due to arrive at 7.58am appears to be the first arrival cancelled at Manchester Piccadilly.
The arrivals board at Piccadilly currently states that all of the next nine services due to arrive this morning have been delayed.
Four of those delays are currently atributed to the communications fault, while others are yet to have a given reason for the delay.
One of the services, a Northern train from Macclesfield which was due to arrive at 7.23, is more than 30 minutes
