LIVE: Rail lines blocked and trains delayed over emergency services incident - latest updates

Rail commuters in Manchester are being warned of delays and possible cancellations on Monday morning due to an emergency services incident.

The incident has been reported between Newton-le-Willows and Manchester Victoria, with delays to services of up to an hour predicted. Tickets are being accepted on other routes.

National Rail said the routes affected are between Newton-le-Willows and Manchester Victoria.

The National Rail website reported: "Emergency services dealing with an incident between Newton-le-Willows and Manchester Victoria means trains may be delayed by up to 60 minutes or cancelled.

"Disruption is expected until 11.30am.

"Tickets will be accepted on the following routes: Manchester Metrolink services between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria.

"TransPennine Express services between Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street. East Midlands Railway services between Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street."

TransPennine Express, meanwhile, said all lines were blocked.

"Services will be delayed by up to 60 minutes and may be cancelled or diverted at short notice," the operator added.
