Police remain at the scene of a reported stabbing in Manchester city this morning after two men were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

The Piccadilly Basin car park, a short distance away from the station, is taped off from Dale Street, as well as stretch of the canal which runs parallel, following the incident last night.

A huge emergency service response was deployed to Dale Street at around 6.30pm. The area was busy with commuters using nearby car parks or the train station when ambulances and police cars quickly stormed the area on blue lights.

Police received reports that two men, aged 20 and 30, had been stabbed and both were rushed to hospital from the scene with serious injuries that police say are 'potentially life-threatening' at this time.

Following the horror, three males were arrested on suspicion of assault and remain in custody to be quizzed about the incident as investigations continue.

Forensic teams have been spotted working inside the cordon this morning (August 17) with evidence markers seen placed alongside the canal.

Residents and tourists are having to ask police to be taken to their cars, which remain stuck inside the cordon.
