LIVE: Bank Holiday flight mayhem as UK airspace hit by technical fault - latest updates from Manchester Airport and beyond

Holidaymakers are facing delays and disruptions this Bank Holiday Monday after a technical fault hit UK airspace. The National Air Traffic Services (NATS) has said that it has applied traffic flow restrictions due to the “technical issue” affecting air traffic control.

It said in a statement: “We are currently experiencing a technical issue and have applied traffic flow restrictions to maintain safety. Engineers are working to find and fix the fault. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Passengers have been warned of disruption to flights due to the fault which is affecting UK airspace. It comes as thousands of Brits make the most of the final week of the school holidays.

Airline Logonair warned customers on Monday morning that both domestic and international flights could be subject to delays. Meanwhile dozens of flights at Manchester Airport have been delayed today, with many by several hours.

Flights have also been impacted by storms in the Spanish Balearic islands, the islands of Menroca and Mallorca both being hit by bad weather. Weather warnings have been issued for the holiday hotspot, while Jet2 has warned passengers of delays to services.
