LIVE: Armed cops, firefighters and paramedics swarm parade of shops in Salford following reports of 'man acting suspiciously'

Armed police have been pictured at the scene of an incident outside a parade of shops in Salford. An incident is said to be ongoing, with other emergency services also at the scene on Liverpool Road in the Eccles area of the city.

It is understood a man has been seen 'acting suspiciously'. A stretch of the busy road has been closed, with police tape marking a cordon outside a row of shops. In a video sent to the Manchester Evening News, armed police officers can be seen stood in the road outside, as firefighters and paramedics are massed in the background.

The scene is outside a car garage near Cosmo Bingo on Liverpool Road.

Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: "At around 1.30pm this afternoon (Saturday 28, October 2023), officers were called to reports of man acting suspiciously at a store on Liverpool Road in Eccles.

"Officers are currently on scene conducting further enquiries into this incident and will remain on scene with emergency services."

No further details have been revealed. Police appear to be watching a parade of shops on the other side of the road to the car garage.
