Littlebourne eye trophy number six from an historic season after recent success in the Whitstable Senior Charity Cup and the Les and Sue Barleycorn Challenge Cup

Littlebourne have already claimed five trophies during an historic season - but they still aren’t done just yet!

The Canterbury & District Football League Premier Division champions have recently added the Whitstable Senior Charity Cup and the Les and Sue Barleycorn Challenge Cup to their impressive collection this season after two close finals against league runners-up Chilham, having previously won both the Canterbury and Faversham Senior Charity cups.

“We have won every game as well so we have not dropped a single point,” said joint-manager Shaun Loomer, who runs the side alongside Jamie Bounds.

“It’s a bit surreal, really. We are the first team in Canterbury and District League history to hold all five trophies.

“I just pick the side and say a few words, but it’s the lads that deserve all the credit, really.

“It’s a fantastic achievement. I’m very proud and it’s great for a small village like Littlebourne.”

Littlebourne beat the University of Kent in their last league fixture 3-1 on Wednesday to make it the perfect 14 from 14 in the league and they will now aim to add a sixth trophy at Maidstone’s Gallagher Stadium when they face Medway City in the Kent Junior A Cup final on Saturday, May 28.

It has very much been a family affair for the Loomers at Littlebourne where Robbie Loomer, Shaun’s brother, is the club’s top scorer while the team was reformed by dad Craig and has gone from strength-to-strength since.

On what it is like to manage his brother who has only played 21 times this season, Shaun explained: “It’s the only time we clash!

"We get on really well until he is on a sports field and I am moaning at him or he is moaning at me. But he is actually a very good friend, as well as a brother.
