Lisandro Martinez comment shows the impact Raphael Varane is having on his Man United teammates

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez have been in superb form at the heart of the Manchester United defence of late.

The two have played alongside each other in five of the past six games in the Premier League and Europa League. It is no coincidence that United have won every game that Martinez and Varane have started together, keeping three clean sheets in the process.

The settled look means captain Harry Maguire has to be content with a starting spot on the substitutes' bench for the time being. But that will be of little worry to United fans, who are just happy to see their team getting back to winning ways.

And it seems that the team spirit is as high as it has been for a while right now if social media is anything to go by.

Varane recently posted a picture on Instagram following United's win over Leicester, with said image showing himself, goalkeeper David de Gea and defensive colleagues Martinez and Diogo Dalot all congratulating each other. Alongside the picture, he wrote: "Another step in the right direction! Bringing 3 points back to Manchester."

All three colleagues pictured took the time to reply, with De Gea writing: "Don Rafael." Meanwhile, Dalot simply posted a love-heart emoji. Martinez went a bit further, writing: "What a pleasure to play by your side brother."

All the responses, not to mention replies by other members of United's squad, show the harmony within the camp right now. United will be disappointed that matters outside of their control meant they could not keep the momentum going against Leeds as planned.
