Lionel Messi sees no PSG allies as former boss sticks the boot in with biting Cristiano Ronaldo claim

Christophe Galtier won't be expecting a Christmas card from Lionel Messi after his latest comments around the 'GOAT' debate -claiming Cristiano Ronaldo should actually wear that crown.

The Frenchman managed seven-time Ballon d'Or winner Messi at Paris-Saint-Germain last season as they lifted the Ligue 1 title. However, they both went their separate ways over the summer, with Messi heading Stateside to join David Beckham's Inter Miami while Galtier took up the reins at Al-Duhail following his Parc des Princes departure.

Speaking after Ronaldo inspired Al-Nassr to yet another AFC Champions League victory and maintained their perfect record in the group, Galtier declared the former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward is still the 'best in the world'. Ronaldo scored two, including the winner, against Galtier's Qatari side in the final ten minutes and displayed that he isn't letting up aged 38 having notched 21 goal involvements in just 13 games so far this season. He said: “When you face Ronaldo, there isn't much you can do. He scored two beautiful goals I'm at a loss for words to describe him. What he did is extraordinary for a 38-year-old. He's still the best player in the world.”

Messi's relationship with Galtier was destined to turn sour. The Argentina 2022 World Cup winner publicly confessed he never wanted to join PSG in the first place, but was essentially forced out of Barcelona after 17 seasons due to financial troubles.
