Lionel Messi's BFF branded X-rated insult as Uruguay star uses football's ultimate meme to troll rival

Uruguay and Argentina erupted into chaos as Rodrigo De Paul took exception to Manuel Ugarte's foul mouthed insult.

The South America rivals went head-to-head in their CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier at Boca Junior's La Bombonera stadium in Buenos Aires. And it was the visitors who came out on top, with Mario Bielsa's side running out 2-0 winners thanks to goals in each half from Ronald Araujo and Darwin Nunez. La Celeste also beat Brazil. by the same scoreline earlier this year, the first time they've done the double over the two powerhouses since 1960.

There's normally little love lost between the two, but one particular flashpoint came after Ugarte apparently went too far in De Paul's ayes. As both sets of players came together pushing and shoving, the PSG midfielder got under his opponent's skin by branding him "Messi's c********r" and provoked an angry reaction from the World Cup winner.

In case anyone was in any doubt over what was said in Spanish, Ugarte helpfully accompanied his slur with an internationally recognised hand gesture. Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez was also less than pleased, steaming in to give Ugarte a mighty shove as the frustrated Argentinians lost their cool.

Messi was perhaps lucky to stay on the park himself. The Ballon d'Or winner grabbed defender Matthias Olivera by the thrown after appearing to hit him in the chest, but escaped punishment from the ref.
