"Likely to go in the summer" - Reliable journalist now drops fresh worrying claim on Wolves star

Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves is ‘likely’ to depart the club in the summer transfer window, according to journalist Tom Collomosse.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from Molineux in recent months following several impressive performances in the Wolves engine room.

According to The Sun, Wolves were willing to listen to offers for Neves last summer, with their owners Fosun desperate to raise funds for a squad re-build.

The report claimed that the Midlands outfit were set to demand £35 million for their prized asset amid interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal, yet a formal offer failed to materialise.

Neves has continued to shine alongside compatriot Joao Moutinho in the middle of the pitch, though, achieving a FotMob season rating of 7.46, the highest amongst his teammates.

And the 26-cap Portugal international has reportedly caught the eye of English giants Manchester United with his dominant displays.

A report in The Sun last month claimed that the Red Devils were weighing up an offer for Neves, whose price tag rose to £40m, in the January window after Ralf Rangnick decided he needed some midfield reinforcements.

However, once again, the former Porto ace stayed put, yet speculation over his long-term future continues to mount.

Neves currently has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract, and although he’s believed to be happy at Wolves, he is unlikely to put pen to paper on fresh terms.

The technically gifted talent has openly spoken of his desire to play Champions League football again, and Collomosse believes he will finally depart following the conclusion of 2021/22.
