'Lifeline' - Sheffield United fans react after Nottingham Forest first leg

Sheffield United have a mountain to climb after they lost 2-1 at home in the first leg of their Championship play-off semi-final against Nottingham Forest.

Goals from Jack Colback and Brennan Johnson put Forest 2-0 up before Sander Berge’s header pulled the Blades back into the tie. But frankly, it could have been far worse, with Steve Cooper’s side wasting a host of chances before Berge’s late finish.

Paul Heckingbottom’s side were some way off the pace and were overrun by an energetic Forest side, but 2-1 provides hope to the Bramall Lane faithful when they travel to Nottingham for the second leg on Tuesday.

And after the game Sheffield United fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

@sueightfc shared an honest reflection: “Well played #NFFC done a real job on us today. We’ve a lifetime we didn’t deserve. Makes it a game. Especially if score first…”

While @jhurstj said bluntly: “Lifeline. Need a totally different performance at Forest though. ”

@mjball_ said: “Key goal that. Go again Tuesday and play much better. Key players didn’t show up today ”

And @craigsablade30 added: “Better team won and should be out of sight . We’re lucky to still have a very slim chance ”

@tyronej1984 said: “I’ll take the result, but my god that performance. Very very tough from here, but not impossible. #twitterblades ”

@smiffy2609 was a tad more optimistic: “The tie lives on #nffc ”

The Blades travel to the City Ground on Tuesday evening with a goal to make up on the first leg, but they face a tough task against a Forest side who have won their last seven at home.
