Liel Abada Celtic transfer escape route opens up as 'trio of MLS clubs interested' in unsettled star

Three MLS clubs are reportedly interested in handing Liel Abada a Celtic escape route after Brendan Rodgers admitted the unsettled Israeli winger could have played his last game for the club.

The 22-year-old missed last week’s Scottish Cup win over St Mirren after the Parkhead boss said he wasn’t in the right frame of mind and is also out of the visit of Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership. Now, the Scottish Daily Mail say that ‘a trio of unnamed US outfits are interested in handing him a permanent exit from the Scottish champions’.

Abada was linked with a move away during the January transfer window with the international player targets by clubs in England, Germany and France but it didn’t materialise and despite the transfer window in the majority of European countries closing at the start of this month, teams in America can still recruit players from abroad until April 23. The report also states that no concrete offers have yet been received. The transfer window in other countries remains open, including in Poland and the Czech Republic.

Celtic signed Abada from Maccabi Petah Tikva in 2021 for around £3.4. million and he signed a contract extension last September to keep him at the champions until 2027. However, just one month after putting pen to paper his homeland was stunned after a terror attack by Hamas.
