Liam Delap responds to Man United transfer links after Viktor Gyokeres blow

Liam Delap has admitted he is 'so happy' at Ipswich Town and isn't 'focusing' on his future amid increased transfer speculation involving Manchester United.

The 22-year-old left Manchester City on a permanent deal last summer to make the £15million move to newly-promoted Ipswich. Delap, who spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Hull City, has hit the ground running since his switch to Suffolk, scoring nine goals in 23 Premier League appearances this term.

His impressive form for Ipswich has attracted interest from several potential suitors. One of them is said to be United, with reports suggesting that Ruben Amorim's side have made Delap a summer transfer target.

Earlier this week The Athletic reported that with Viktor Gyokeres looking to join a Champions League team, United believe that the chances of the Sweden international moving to Old Trafford are unlikely. In their hunt for alternatives, the report further adds that Delap could be an option - especially if Ipswich are relegated.

A move to United wouldn't be a surprise for Delap, either, after working with CEO Omar Berrada and technical director Jason Wilcox during their time at City. That link could come in handy should United pursue a move for Delap, though Pep Guardiola's City do have a £29.5m buy-back option.

Although speculation is rife surrounding Delap's long-term future, the Ipswich man is not thinking about it and wants to focus on each game from now to the end of the season.

"I'm so happy here, I'm enjoying it so much here. I just look forward to playing football. I take every game as it comes and focus on the next," Delap said in an interview with the East Anglian Daily Times.

"It [the media speculation] is something that I try and stay away from.
