Lewis Miller targets Australia Asian Cup glory as Hibs star says camp vibe is like 'playing with your brothers'

Lewis Miller believes Australia can go all the way at the Asian Cup.

The Hibs full-back is part of the Socceroos' squad at the tournament as they bid to add to the one title they won back in 2015. Graham Arnold's men had a solid World Cup campaign in 2022, with eventual winners Argentina and Lionel Messi dumping them out at the knockout stages and the defender says they are determined to make the country proud as they give it their all to taste success.

Martin Boyle is another Easter Road star in the ranks with the duo flying to Abu Dhabi for a training camp on January 1. They kicked off preparations for the main event with a victory over Bahrain with the squad now based in Doha. Giving an insight to the last ten days with the tournament opener just days away, Miller told the Hibs website: “We started off in Abu Dhabi to play a friendly with Bahrain. We won that 2-0 and showed a lot of promising signs. It was a good introduction to Asian football for me, and it certainly helped me develop as a player and get focussed for the tournament ahead.

“At the start, there were a few new faces so everyone has been getting to know each other for the first few days. Now we are here in Doha, everyone has gelled together and we are like one big family. We are all pulling in the same direction, we all have the same goals and it is like playing together with your brothers – that is the general vibe of the camp.

He continued: "The standards and expectations for our country are quite high. The boys know that and we have spoken about our goals and what we want to achieve in this tournament.
