Levi Colwill's absence and Ollie Turton's removal explained as Huddersfield Town draw at Luton

Huddersfield Town centre-back Levi Colwill was kept out of the side for their play-off first leg against Luton Town on Friday evening after feeling ill earlier in the week, Carlos Corberan has confirmed.

Naby Sarr lined up on the left of the Terriers' back three alongside Tom Lees and Jonathan Hogg with Chelsea loanee Colwill only passed fit enough to take a place on the bench, acting as an unused substitute on the night as Sarr played the full 90 minutes.

Speaking after the game, Corberan said of the 19 year old: "He's fine but he couldn't make the full week of training because he felt unwell at the start of the week. Analysing the game and the performances of the team we decided to put in Sarr because we thought he could make a good contribution to the team, which he did today."

Corberan confirmed that the change he made at the break was forced by injury rather than being a purely tactical move after Ollie Turton picked up a knock while challenging Amari'i Bell for the ball in the final few moments before half time. The head coach said: "He was injured in the last action of the first half. It's too early [to say if he can play Monday]. Let's see what the injury is and how many days he needs to recover."

However, Corberan felt that Pipa's introduction coupled with switching Duane Holmes from the left wing to play ahead of the right wing-back had a positive impact on his side's second-half performance, saying: “I think the fact we put Holmes on the right side allowed him to grow more and counter-attack more with the ball.
