"Let's face it": Sky Sports reporter now drops big Tottenham starting XI claim vs Burnley

Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge believes Antonio Conte should name the “same XI” that beat Manchester City on the weekend when Tottenham face Burnley on Wednesday.

Spurs pulled off a remarkable victory at the Etihad Stadium to keep their top four hopes alive.

In one of the games of the season so far, Tottenham took an early lead after Heung-min Son latched onto a Harry Kane through ball before feeding Dejan Kulusevski to score.

Pep Guardiola’s side hit back through Ilkay Gundogan before the interval, only for Spurs to re-take the lead just before the hour mark thanks to Kane.

Conte’s men were dealt a devastating blow at the start of injury time when Cristian Romero was adjudged to have handled inside the area, leaving Riyad Mahrez to level things up at 2-2.

However, there was still time for Tottenham to launch one final attack, and Kane popped up with a dramatic winner as he headed home Kulusevski’s cross.

Tottenham will be looking to back up that victory when they travel to Turf Moor on Wednesday.

Bridge has urged Conte to go with the same team that edged past City, unless there are any fitness concerns within the squad.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Same XI for me. Knowing Tottenham, there’s always one niggle or knock that’s happened. Let’s face it, that took a lot out of them at the end.”

That could be the way to go, as long as everyone is in good condition heading into the match.

Bridge is right to point out that some players could be feeling the after-effects of the huge effort that was needed to beat City on Saturday, though.

Romero and Eric Dier have both only recently returned from injury lay-offs, and they will need to be assessed ahead of kick-off.
