"He knows he made a mistake" – Journalist now drops big Harry Kane claim at Tottenham

Tottenham striker Harry Kane knows he “made a mistake” by signing a six-year contract back in 2018, claims journalist Paul Brown.

The 28-year-old was unable to secure a move to Manchester City last summer, with Spurs under no pressure to sell due to the length of his current deal.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Kane will not renew his Tottenham contract, which expires in 2024, and will try to join City again in the next transfer window.

Last month, ESPN reported that the north London club were hoping to open talks over a new deal with their talisman at the end of the season, but it looks like that is no longer going to happen.

Kane gave City a reminder of what they missed out on when he punished them at the Etihad towards the end of February.

The England captain was excellent that game, scoring twice as Antonio Conte’s men went on to win 3-2 in one of the most entertaining matches of the campaign.

Brown has told GIVEMESPORT that Kane knows he messed up by signing that long-term deal in 2018 and does not think it makes sense for him to extend it further.

Speaking to GMS, the Daily Star journalist said: “It’s not in Kane’s interest to sign another one. He knows he made a mistake the last time because he gave all his leverage away and didn’t get the move that he wanted in the summer.”

It is not impossible, but it is starting to look increasingly unlikely, largely because Pep Guardiola and City seemed to have turned their attention elsewhere.
