Leroy Cudjoe drops clear hint over new contract with Huddersfield Giants in 2023

Leroy Cudjoe says he hopes to finalise a new contract with Huddersfield to play on in 2023 in the near future, insisting he has no desire to finish his career anywhere else. The 34-year-old has been a mainstay of Ian Watson's side this season, and the centre scored his first tries of the season in last weekend's victory against Hull KR, which maintained the Giants' push for a top four finish.

Cudjoe's existing deal expires with the Giants at the end of this season, but after Watson stressed he wanted the former England international to play on, Cudjoe himself admitted the feeling is mutual. He told Rugby League Live: "My plan is to carry on playing next year.

"Watto has told me he wants me here so I'm hoping they'll make me an offer soon and we can get things sorted. The last few contracts I've done with the club have been pretty straightforward so hopefully this one is no different."

Cudjoe stressed that having spent his whole career with his hometown club, he would like to be regarded as a one-club man when he retires, and he has no plans to sign for another team. "This place means a lot to me," he said.

"They gave me my first opportunity and supported me when I was injured. I'd like to think I've been loyal and represented the club well on and off the field too. Hopefully everything falls into place and I'll remain a one-club man and win some silverware while I'm still playing."

Cudjoe also admits his recent form is the best he's experienced since spending almost two years on the sidelines with injury.
