Brooke Henderson set the pace at the Annika Sorenstam-hosted tournament with a superb eight-under 62, but Maguire is by no means cut adrift.
Canadian Henderson is one clear of a batch of players on seven-under: Emily Kristine Pedersen, Jin-Young Ko, Minami Katsu and Paphangkorn Tavatanakit.
Stephanie Meadow double-bogeyed her final hole to sign off with a frustrating even-par 70.
The Annika is the last tournament of the regular season, with only the world's top 60 making the field for next week's CME Group Tour Championship.
Maguire is guaranteed to compete at that lucrative event, but Meadow requires a very strong weekend to have any hope of squeezing in.
