Lennon Miller wants Scotland cap call, but is focused on Motherwell

Lennon Miller had a taste of playing in front of a packed crowd against Rangers at Hampden on Saturday, and hopes to get the chance to do so with Scotland.

The midfielder knows this is a big year for him at Motherwell, having made his breakthrough last season, aged just 16.

Wishaw native Miller hopes to kick on, meaning continuing to play well for Motherwell and knocking on Steve Clarke’s door for a crack at the Scotland first team.

Miller said: “I’d love to represent my country, anywhere, never mind here at Hampden, but that comes after my focus on Motherwell.

“It’s obviously a big goal, I’ve played for under-21s in the summer and it’s something I want to do. I want to represent my country and hopefully I can do that.

“Last year was my breakthrough year, I was 16, breaking into a first-team and you didn’t know what you were going to get with me.

“This year I feel like it’s my big year to show what I’m made of, and be consistent for a whole year.

“Obviously I had the injury last year and I want to stay as fit as I can for the whole season and prove myself.

“The manager gave me a chance last year and I’m trying to repay him by playing first team football.

“That’s what I’ve wanted to do since I was a young boy and luckily I did that last year.

“Hopefully I can kick on this year. I’ve been at Motherwell since I was a young boy and I want to develop here and play well.

“I’ve obviously had rumours about me for quite a while now, it just gets put to one side and I try and focus on taking my time at Motherwell and trying to do the best for this club.”
