Lennon Miller called up to Scotland Under-21s after impressive breakthrough season

Lennon Miller has received his first Scotland under-21 call-up for two friendlies next month.

The 17-year-old midfielder made the step up from under-17s to under-19s in an impressive first-team breakthrough season at Motherwell.

But he has now been called up by Scot Gemmell for friendlies against Turkiye on Monday, June 3 and Austria on Friday, June 7.

Miller has been at Motherwell since he was seven years old, and is the son of former Aberdeen and Scotland striker Lee.

Lennon made his first top-team appearance in a 3-0 defeat to Rangers on December 28, 2022, and his second in a draw at Celtic Park on April, 22, 2023.

However, he played 32 times this season, scoring twice, despite a broken patella keeping him out of action between November and January.

Miller won the club’s Young Player of the Year award, and was nominated for the SFWA Scottish SPFL Young Player of the Year and PFA Young Player of the Year awards.

In November he signed a contract extension, keeping him at Motherwell until the summer of 2026.
