Leinster dressing room 'flat' after win - Leo Cullen

Leo Cullen revealed that he had to deal with a downbeat dressing room despite his Leinster side winning their 14th straight BTK URC game to extend their lead at the top of the table.

The hosts ran in seven tries in a somewhat scrappy 43-14 victory over Dragons, who remain second from bottom.

With 13 players in Ireland camp, it was a largely second string outfit, and included a debut for Jack Boyle, that saw off Dai Flanagan's team in windy conditions at the RDS last night.

"Overall the performance was pretty patchy," the former Ireland second row forward told RTÉ Sport.

"There were a lot of turnovers, the conditions were tricky and that's part of the reason.

"There’s a little bit of a flat dressing room inside there, there are guys who are not 100% happy with how they went. But, no, it’s a good win and it keeps us ticking along.

"I thought we started well and then Dragons were on top for large parts of the first half. We scored two tries just before half-time but the scoreline didn’t really reflect the game.

"We’d a strong wind in the second half but we didn’t build enough pressure.

"Credit to the Dragons, they battled hard, very physical, very aggressive in the contact area, things that we flagged going into the game but we still would have to deal with it.

"We’d a number of young players out there, building experience so plenty of positives."

Cullen, who took over as head coach of the four-time Champions Cup winners in 2014, signed a one-year contract extension this time last year and he was asked if there was any news in the pipeline regarding next season's plans.

"We're working away anyway so Marcus [Ó Buachalla, head of communications] will have all the announcements at some stage," said the 45-year-old.
