Leinster captain Caelan Doris can't wait to 'tear' into La Rochelle prep

Leinster skipper Caelan Doris says he can't wait to get to work on Monday as his side begin their preparation for the Investec Champions Cup rematch against La Rochelle.

The four-time champions beat Leicester 36-22 in the round of 16 at the Aviva Stadium after Ronan O’Gara’s back-to-back winners had earlier come from 16-0 down in the second half to scrape past Stormers in Cape Town.

The sides will meet for a fifth time in four seasons next Saturday at the Aviva Stadium with a 5.30pm kick-off.

The French side have won all three knock-out ties and lost the pool clash, 16-9, last December.

Doris (above) told RTÉ Sport: "There's no shortage of motivation given some of the results we've had against them over the last while.

"We had a good result over there which gives us some belief. But there's massive belief in this squad and it's about tearing into next week and putting our best foot forward."

On his side’s performance against the English outfit, the number 8, who was captaining the side for the first time in Europe, said: "Performance-wise I think we were far from our best there.

"We know what's required to get to the latter stages of Europe and I'm not sure that was quite it.

"It was enough on the day and we're into a big week next week. Performance-wise we'll need to be better."

Leo Cullen’s side conceded 10 penalties and had winger James Lowe sent to the bin at the start of the second half.

"Discipline was probably the glaring one there, we gave away quite a few penalties and backed them up, penalty after penalty, which gave them quite a bit of access," added the Ireland international.

"Having said that they are a quality team and knockout rugby is always tricky. We got the result and that's the main thing."
