Leigh Griffiths kickstarts post Celtic career as he gets off the mark for Falkirk in late show

Leigh Griffiths was the difference for Falkirk on Saturday as his first goal and an assist sealed a key victory over East Fife.

Griffiths joined the Bairns on a free transfer after his release from Celtic in January.

He's been introduced slowly by Martin Rennie and started for only the second time against the League One basement side.

It had looked like it was going to be another frustrating day for the struggling Bairns after Ryan Wallace cancelled out Craig McGuffie's opener.

But with 89 minutes on the clock a Griffiths corner found skipper Paul Watson who headed in.

Griffiths wasn't done there though and just moments later he broke into the East Fife box.

But he was brought down by Stewart Murdoch and that gave him the chance to open his account from the spot.

He stepped up and converted it and sealed a much-needed win for the playoff hopefuls.

Falkirk sit in fifth place, level on points with Queen's Park having played a game more.
