Leigh Francis' childhood sweetheart wife and Davina McCall connection

Comedy legend Leigh Francis - better known as Keith Lemon - has been on our screens for almost 30 years. Leigh, from Leeds, is best known for his hilarious character work and programmes including Bo' Selecta! and panel show Celebrity Juice.

This weekend, the star, 50, is entering the iconic Great British Bake Off tent in aid of Stand Up To Cancer, joined by Danny Dyer, Rhod Gilbert and Yinka Bokinn. We take a look into Leigh's real life, including his impressive TV career and his family.

Leigh was born in 1973 in Beeston, Leeds and was brought up in Old Farnely. His dad passed away from cancer at the age of just 47. Leigh now lives in Hadley in North London with his wife, two children and their pet dog.

He studied graphic design at college before getting his big break when Davina McCall spotted him at a stand-up comedy gig. Davina helped him get his role on Dom and Kirk's Nite O' Plenty, playing dating adviser Bobby Stark.

It was in 2000 that Leigh transformed into Keith Lemon on ITV's Whatever I Want. His major television breakthrough occurred when Channel 4 offered him a £250,000 deal to produce a series based on his television characters, such as his previous roles as Bobby Stark and Barry Gibson, and in 2002, Bo' Selecta! was born.

Among the characters he played in the show were Craig David, Mel B, Michael Jackson, David Blaine and The Osbournes.

He took one of the series characters from Bo' Selecta!, Keith Lemon, and created a brand new show, Keith Lemon's Very Brilliant World Tour, which aired on ITV2 in April 2008.
